LOWER CAMPThe LOWER CAMP is specifically designed to meet the needs and developmental level of children 3 to 5 years old. Campers are placed in small peer groups and led by qualified and caring counselors. Please note that campers must be fully toilet-trained in order to attend camp.
The LOWER CAMP program emphasizes social interaction, individual growth, and fun. All campers have a full but balanced daily schedule and participate in the activities listed below:
- Sports (each week a different sport is featured)
- Arts & Crafts
- Nature Exploration
- Red Cross Swim Instruction
- Music, Dance, and Drama
- Cooperative Games
- Low Ropes Course
- Archery (for campers entering kindergarten)
In addition to the daily activities, children in Lower Camp participate in special events held at camp (young campers do not leave camp for field trips). Programs in the past have included animal shows, carnivals, magic performances, story-tellers, and dance shows.
The Lower Camp Coordinator, Jessica Jobe, has extensive experience in early childhood education. Jessica is the Director of Academy Pre-School during the school year. She attended Camp West Woods as a camper and returned every summer, progressing through the Leadership Training Program into a counselor position for 10+ years, and then being promoted to the Coordinator of Lower Camp.
