Designed for campers entering grades 5-9, the ADVENTURE BOUND PROGRAM offers participants the opportunity to explore the outdoors through a series of day trips and overnights. This is the ideal program for the older camper who is looking for an alternative to the traditional day camp experience. The program allows adolescents to gain self-confidence, make new friends, and learn practical skills in a safe, supportive environment. Since it began in the 1990s, Adventure Bound has expanded to develop into a favorite summer choice for many local children.
Adventure Bound is directed by Jim Watson, an outdoor enthusiast and science teacher who has been a part of Camp West Woods for over 20 years. Each program is led by two senior staff members, chosen because of their knowledge of the outdoors, dedication to working with children, and overall maturity.
Although the destinations change each session, campers will have the opportunity to do many exciting activities such as hiking, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, mountain climbing, camping, boating, and much more. In addition, trips include water parks, beaches, and special surprises. On rainy days, the groups will visit such places as museums, the New England Aquarium, an indoor rock gym, and other indoor spaces.
Enrollment for the Adventure Bound programs is very limited.
All campers are expected to follow the camp rules and be able to regulate their own behavior. If you think your child may need extra assistance in order to have a positive experience, please call to speak with us or set up an appointment before camp begins.
